A new project: Biodiversity of Phoxinus minnows in Austria
|
|
In October 2022, a new Citizen Science project "Biodiversity of minnows", funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (Sparkling Science 2.0), is starting at the Natural History Museum Vienna. The project team, including also the scientists from the Research Department for Limnology, Mondsee, will work with students and anglers to gain new scientific insights into the distribution and diversity of minnows in Austria. Using COI analysis, the number of minnow species living in Austria as well as their precise distribution will come to light. Thus, method of choice is DNA barcoding!
