ABOL participated this year with 6 BioBlitz actions on the Days of Biodiversity in different federal states. In the Days of Biodiversity, experts provide their comprehensive knowledge of biodiversity. The possibility of sampling collected material and generating DNA barcodes within the framework of the ABOL BioBlitz met with great interest among many participants. THANKS to all those who, by providing genetic references, have helped to make part of their biodiversity competence socially available free of charge. Already, some new reports for Austria or individual federal states are emerging. Beyond these particular species, much of the determination work is still ongoing. Upon completion of the data generation, the entries will be published in one (or more) publication(s) and in the International DNA Barcoding Database (BOLD).

From our point of view, the ABOL BioBlitz was a huge success! We met a lot of new experts and were able to strengthen the network, contributed to the success of the Days of Biodiversity and in addition make a valuable contribution to the reference database.
We thank all experts who have contributed their expertise, all organizers and all interested parties! We hope to be able to join the Days of Biodiversity again next year!
