The TaxSyst Summer School of the ZooBot is an initiative that has been promoting taxonomic competence in Austria for years! This year a taxonomic course on Austria's water beetles is organized. Interested persons can register until July 16, 2021 via the e-mail address gf.zoobot@univie.ac.at. The course will take place from September 20 to 24 in the Vienna Botanical Garden; excursions will also be organized (in GERMAN).

The DNA barcoding database has recently been enriched by the Austrian species of the rather small and little noticed group of the genus Boreus, which belongs to the Boreide family. Genetic and morphological studies at the University of Graz indicate the existence of cryptic diversity in this group. https://peerj.com/articles/11424/
